The Dress

The Alexandra dress was the perfect dress for our boho-styled wedding in upstate New York. I absolutely loved wearing this dress and didn't want to take it off! It was the most comfortable dress I've ever worn... the light, stretchy lace makes your wedding day effortless so you can focus on your wedding and not worry about constantly readjusting your dress. This dress is an absolute show stopper and is perfect for showing off your curves. I felt incredible wearing it!

This exact dress features the 80cm train. I had a seamstress add a small clear button beneath the butt, and a silk loophole on the train, to give me the option to bustle it. These could easily be removed by another seamstress. This dress is a size small, but I also had the seamstress take in the dress a little at the bust as I lost a little weight before the wedding. The dress is so stretchy that it could absolutely fit a size UK 8-10, or even a smaller size if you had a seamstress tailor it to your body. If you’re planning a destination wedding, this dress is SO easy to travel with. It doesn’t wrinkle or need to be steamed! I had it packed in a suitcase for 24+ hours and it arrived looking perfect.

My sizes: I'm a 34B bra size, and a size 25-26 in jeans/trousers. I'm 5'4, 122 lbs and this dress was the perfect length in the 3.5inch heeled shoes I wore.

Condition: I wore the dress for our ceremony and reception and had it professionally dry cleaned (receipt available by request). It is in good, worn condition. There are a few small, light coloured marks on the train, and one on the bottom part of the back cutout. There is discolouration on the inner lining, at the bottom. I don't think these spots would be noticeable when worn (I can barely see them when looking up close), but I've priced the dress accordingly. These may still be able to be removed by a professional with spot treatment. There are some loose threads (as is normal with lace), but no major rips, tears or snags that I can see. Also, the inner cups on the bust seem to have moved a little when this was dry cleaned (like what happens when you wash a swimsuit). I have tried fixing them, and they look fine now, but I think a seamstress would need to professionally go into the dress and straighten them out, or maybe replace with new inner cups. Should be inexpensive to fix!

I do not have the dress box anymore, and only have the Grace Loves Lace dress bag (which is a little dirty on the bottom from accidentally dragging on the ground - I haven't tried cleaning it, but if you want a perfectly clean dress bag, I'm sure you could wash it or buy a new one from Grace Loves Lace).

I would be happy to send you more photos, a video, or give more details! This dress was a joy to wear and I'm so glad that it will get the chance to be worn again, and hopefully make you as happy as it made me :)

Description from Grace Loves Lace:

The Alexandra is for the woman who is a natural showstopper – she wants to look striking and feminine, sophisticated and effortless. Made for the iconic GLL woman – she has soul, passion, confidence and substance.

The Alexandra gown is all about the beautifully balanced silhouette, which highlights the female shape in an elegant and subtle way. Handmade from soft, stretch French lace and hand cut lace motifs appliqúed on every edge. Beginning with a flattering high neck with a plunging V-neck lining and built in cups, the Alexandra has a daringly low, yet wearable open back, which is secured with a single satin button at the neckline. We love the dramatic fishtail skirt, which has a centre front opening and a stunning 80cm train. A concealed finger loop is featured on the 80cm and 120cm train.

Alterations

I had the dress taken in at the bust. I also had a small clear button added to the back just below the butt to give it the option to bustle. The button and corresponding loop could easily be removed by a seamstress.
